black walnuts

It was a good year for roadside walnuts. In six years, I have yet to meet anyone not pleased to see them taken away.

Among other things, I did some basic shibori with the dark brown dye bath.

The browns are beautiful.

Sometimes people comment on the colours I wear. There’s something noticeable about them. It has taken a long time to get comfortable using natural dyes. Each has its own character. Black walnuts were the first natural dye material I tried.

These are made from wool gabardine dyed with a combination of plants and flowers. They are lined with organic cotton. The amount of time in them is somewhat immeasurable. For anyone interested, there’s pictures of the sewing process on Instagram. Wearing clothes coloured with plants is having a connection to nature close by all the time.
