Canary was founded on using undyed organic cotton, and natural ways to colour it. The significant difference between organic and “conventional” cotton, from seed and cultivation through all stages of processing into fabric is becoming more known. However, unless otherwise noted, all organic cotton is still synthetically dyed. Canary only uses natural colours, like colourgrown brown, or natural indigo.
I covered narrow latex-free elastic tape with soft organic cotton knit, for more comfortable, hypo-allergenic ear loops. There’s a poly-spandex elastic option too, which costs less.
I also made storage and carrying folders from sturdy kraft paper, stitched with organic cotton thread. They are an easier-to-use alternative to the paper bags recommended by experts.
If you have a colour preference for any of the natural dyed threads, on a mask or paper folder, just add a note to your cart page. This indigo mask looks nice with yellow-green woad thread.
It is enjoyable to sew them outside when time and weather allows, on the Raymond treadle made-in-Guelph machine.
